Built between the 13th and the 17th centuries, today owned by the Leroy-Beaulieu family, the Château de Cazilhac, near Lodève, overlooks the Orb valley.
With more than 300 illustrations, this book, based only on original documents from public and private archives, studies Cazilhac in a multiple reality and places it in the local and national context from the 1st to the 21st century. It begins with Cassius, the first known owner of this land to which he gave his name, and goes through the centuries to the Saint-Simonianist Michel Chevalier, leading figure of the Second French Empire, and to the Leroy-Beaulieu family.
This study revives particular family stories through history, architecture, decorative arts, sociology, viticulture and industry.
