Henry Moore : A European Impulse

Auteur(s) : Hermann Arnhold

Exhibition at the LWL-Museum für Kunst und Kultur, Münster, Germany, 11 November 2016 - 19 March 2017

Henry Moore (1898-1986), known as the "Picasso of Sculpture", is regarded as one of the most important sculptors of the twentieth century and the epitome of the modern artist. Typical of his work is the interrelationship between nature and abstraction. He discovered the "voids", so-called openings and holes which heighten the sculptural, three-dimensional effect of his works and was one of the first contemporary sculptors to realise his ideas in the public space.
This exhibition catalogue presents Moore as the dominant personality of modern sculpture and demonstrates his influence on artists, from Picasso, Arp and Giacometti to younger German sculptors. It features a catalogue of Moore's most significant works.
