Exhibition at Librairie Métamorphoses, Paris, 28 September - 18 November 2023
Painter, draughtsman, scenographer and poet Gilles Aillaud (1928-2005) was a versatile artist, philosopher and traveller. From the 1960s onwards, returning to classical painting, he painted zoos and landscapes, but it was from 1978, the year of his meeting with Franck Bordas, that lithography took on an important role in Gilles Aillaud's work: for twenty-two years, the artist drew regularly on the lithographic stones of the Atelier Bordas.
This catalogue raisonné presents all of Gilles Aillaud's prints: lithographs, serigraphs, illustrated books, prints that are part of collective works and original posters printed in lithography. The book provides the sources and print-runs for these works, produced between 1965 and 2000, and places them in their historical, artistic and biographical context.
