Ettore Sottsass

The reissue of this monograph, first published in 2014, testifies to the continuing fascination that the life and work of Italian architect and designer Ettore Sottsass (1917-2007) holds for both enthusiasts and collectors. The artist's work is best known for his designs for Olivetti - including the Valentine, a bright red manual typewriter with a briefcase - or for the post-modern brilliance of the Memphis Group, founded by Sottsass in Milan in 1980.

Illustrated with images from Sottsass's extensive archive and including drawings and sketches from the designer's countless sketchbooks, this book examines Sottsass's entire career from the 1940s to the 2000s, covering all aspects of his architectural and product design projects, as well as his ceramics, sculptures and graphics.
