De Chirico: Catalogue Raisonné Of The Work Vol.i, Part 1: The Late Romantic Works And The First Metaphysics October 1908 - February 1912

Auteur(s) : Paolo Baldacci, Gerd Roos

Giorgio De Chirico (1888-1978) was a mysterious and enigmatic artist, whose creative and intellectual story is one of the most gripping of the 20th century.

This first part of the first volume of the catalogue raisonné includes the artist's work from autumn 1908 to February 1912; all the parts of volume 1 will comprehensively document all the paintings and drawings from autumn 1908 to February 1919 and all the revivals, copies and variations of the metaphysical theme (about 70 works) documented from 1922 to 1943. De Chirico's early work can be divided into distinct phases, styles, subjects, iconography and poetic themes, which allows each of the six volumes of this catalogue raisonné to stand up in its own right.

Volumes two to six will cover February 1919 to autumn 1943 and catalogue the around 1200 paintings of the inter-war years.
