David Hicks: A Life Of Design

Auteur(s) : Ashley Hicks

New edition

Known for his bold use of colour, eclecticism and geometric patterns in carpets and textiles, British interior designer David Hicks (1929-1998) turned English interior design on its head in the 1950s and 1960s.

His trademark use of electrifying colour combinations and mix of antiques, modern furniture and abstract paintings became the 'style' of the chic people of the time, including Vidal Sassoon and Helena Rubinstein. By the 1970s, David Hicks had become a brand; his company manufactures wallpapers, fabrics and linens and has branches in eight countries, including the United States, where his wallpapers are used in the White House.

Written by his son, Ashley Hicks, with unprecedented access to Hicks' archives, personal photographs, diaries and albums, this book is a vibrant tribute to half a century of stunning interiors.
