Amedeo De Souza Cardoso, 1887-1918

Auteur(s) : Raquel Henriques Da Silva et Leonor De Oliveira

Exhibition at the Grand Palais, Paris, 20 April - 18 October 2016

This book is the catalogue of the first great retrospective devoted since 1958 to Portuguese artist Amadeo de Souza-Cardoso, whose work is at the crossroads of all 20th-century artistic movements. Between tradition and modernity, beyond impressionist, fauve, cubist and futurist influences, his work is considered as fully avant-gardist. Settled in Paris from 1909 to 1914, de Souza-Cardoso was exhibited in Berlin, Paris and New York along with the greatest artists of his time, Braque, Picasso, Duchamp, Matisse, Kandinsky or Léger.
The catalogue studies the 150 works by Amadeo de Souza-Cordoso and his closest friends - Modigliani, Brancusi, Sonia and Robert Delaunay - gathered in this exhibition.
